A LITTLE MORE ABOUT GORDON
Gordon has 32 years experience in public practice and continues to lead the way in his field.
In 1984, he received his CGA designation, Accredited Litigation Accountant designation (ALA) in 1996, and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 1998 with the Aboriginal Financial Manager designation (CAFM) in 2000.
In addition to the above mentioned, Gordon is also a multi-award winning accountant, having received the ONLY Fellowship Designation by CGA Association of Canada in 2000 for outstanding service to the profession and the community.
In 2003, the firm received the Business of the Year Award from Slave Lake and District Chamber of Commerce.
2007 saw Gordon receive the EPR Award for strong leadership, dedication, enthusiasm, and unfailing commitment.
Topping off Mr. Ferguson's achievements is the "100 CGAs Who Have Made A Difference Award" from CGA Canada. In an international search by CGA Canada and its international affiliates, Gordon was chosen among the top 100 out of the membership of 60,000 professional CGAs.
The latest award Gordon has received is from CGA Alberta in March 2011. He is the recipient of the exclusive and prestigious "Lifetime Membership from CGA Alberta".
Known for his energy and enthusiasm, Gordon is heavily involved in the community. He served as a Town Councillor for the Town of Slave Lake from 1984-1986.
Gordon has also received a Ministerial Appointment to Keeweetinok Regional Health Authority, he is a former Minor Soccer Coach, and serves as President of the notable Slave Lake Koinonia Christian School.
Gordon is the Northern Alberta Field Representative for the Global ministries known as The Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International and serves on the Board of Directors for Lesser Slave Lake PC Association. Gordon is also currently Chair of the Audit Committee for CGA Alberta.
On a national level, Gordon is also very involved in his field of expertise and community at large. From 1998-2000 he serves as Co-Chair for the CGA-AFN Accountability Project. Formerly, he sat on The EPR National Management Committee, Alberta and CGA Board of Governors. He also served as the CGA Board Representative or Financial Planners Standards Council of Canada. Form 1994-1999 Gordon was a Board Member of Athletes International Ministries of Canada and is currently a board member in his home church.
Continually keeping abreast of the emerging marketplace changes and tax laws, both Gordon and his entire team regularly engage in Professional Development courses and learning opportunities, remaining current and up to date on ongoing issues in order to serve our clients in a well rounded, expert and professional manner. Gordon's preferred areas of practice are Tax Planning, Business Valuations, Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Re organization and Estate Planning.
Outside of the office, Gordon enjoys playing soccer, working in his garden and greenhouse, along with spending time with his family and seven grandchildren.
